In Sunday's Trib Bob Verdi discusses a tax loophole that will add dollars to the bottom line of all sports franchises. Will the Cubs add this money to their 2005 payroll? Hmmm.

Actually, Bob is correct on his assesment that teams will be able to writeoff the value on their books over a 15 year period but this won't affect the Cubs. It will affect teams that were recently purchased at a high markup up like the Boston Red Sox.
