The Cubs(15-19, 7.5 GB) limp home from a 1-8 swing out west. First for the Cubs in this six game homestand will be the red hot Padres (19-16, 1.0 GB). San Diego has won 10 of 11 (including a 4 game sweep of the Cubs this past weekend at Petco).
George Steinbrenner once dubbed Dave Winfield "Mr. May". Well ironically guess who's a VP with the Pads? Winfield of course. So isn't it fitting that Mr. Mays team was 22-6 in May 2005 and thus far they are 9-1 in May 2006. Interesting.
Future Hall of Famer Greg Maddux will face the Padres on Saturday after they beat him up pretty good on Monday. I always like Maddux when he faces a lineup a second time in a week after getting knocked around pretty good. I look for Maddux to bounce back and pitch well on Saturday.

Keep your eyes peeled for bj1234568 and the winning sign "How many crappy second baseman does it take to finish 5th?" (Pwhalen's winning idea) if you're watching the ballgame on Saturday.
Have a great weekend everyone.
